Heat recovery? – not just now thanks.

Are you inadvertently heating your building during the warm summer months?!

Air Handling Units (AHUs) with heat recovery (like thermal wheels or plate heat exchangers), can continue heating incoming air even when outside air temperatures are high.

This happens when:
Heat recovery devices (designed to transfer heat from exhaust air to incoming fresh air) aren’t bypassed or turned off in hot weather.
The control systems are not optimised for seasonal changes, leading to unnecessary energy use.

This type of heat recovery system continues operating constantly in ‘winter mode’, recovering heat that’s not needed in the spring and summer – effectively wasting energy and increasing cooling loads.
In contrast to this, DexThermic systems finish their heating season when temperatures rise and go into standby until the cooler months; saving customers money, reducing pressure on cooling systems, and reducing waste throughout the year.

Dext’s commitment to innovation – and common sense – goes beyond the initial product design. The DexThermic was put through rigorous testing in challenging real-world environments to ensure we had resolved every potential issue before the system reached the marketplace. Through this stringent testing and continual evolution process we could ensure that our heat recovery systems are designed to offer practical solutions and savings throughout the year.

Nobody wants to bring in warm air and then pay to cool it!
